These accounts were NOT COMPROMISED FROM OUR SERVER or anything wacky like that. I checked a few of our most active accounts, but it’s worth your time to look around for your accounts and those of your friends. It’s not 100% certain that all those accounts were actually compromised, but it’s always worth changing your password to be certain, ehwot?

We’ve updated to 1.5. Funny, how for the first time we got to an update BEFORE the launcher did
You can update your client to 1.5 by clicking here and replacing the minecraft.jar file in your %appdata%/.minecraft/bin folder with that one!
The whole post is here if you’re wondering why we’ve updated before the actual launcher. It’s nothing sketchy.

Just to update, I know the server’s been fairly inactive lately, but that’s because the team has been working on pushing out some great stuff. Right now we’re running four servers total.
12w07b Creative Server 1 – Home to our new world
12w07b Creative Server 2 – Home to a special project!
Silvercrest Landing – The server you know and love
SilverTest landing – Another 1.1 bukkit server for testing the new plugin configs.
In addition, for those of you who care, bukkit is doing a massive update and getting rid of old, deprecated code. Things will be shaky at first I’ll imagine, but it’s for the best. You can read up on that upcoming change here.
It should be noted, only two of those minecraft servers are being run on the physical computer that handles SCL. There isn’t a significant memory tie-down, and we haven’t experienced problems in cooperation between the two.
Some updates that we’ve made to the plugin scheme:

Sorry for the intermittent lag and downtime for the past few days, but I’ve finally succeeded in doing a few things. Chief among them, though, is eliminating the chatspam from our save and backup plugins. You know, this:
That should all be gone now.
In the meantime, we’re eagerly awaiting 1.2 as Blaze and I have been designing the landing point and a few Easter eggs of the new world! You’ll all enjoy it thoroughly.
Cheers!

Perhaps the most important shift in the server workflow will be around transport. We have long had runecraft in place set up so users might warp from place to place over long distances, connected at a central hub. This is all well and good at first, but it has turned walking into a chore and keeps most of us from soaking up any of the aesthetics we’ve worked so hard to create. We plan to allow users to continue to use existing teleporters, but prevent them from creating new ones.
“But what about the old world, can I still make them there?”
No. Their creation will be disabled globally. The idea is to begin migrating the creation of new projects into the new world.
“I’ve often used the personal teleporter rune to escape scary caves. Can I continue to use that rune to get out when I’m lost?”
Yes, the plan is to create one single waypoint in the center of the new primary town for emergency personal teleporter use.
“Will the old world still be accessible and navigable by teleporters?”
Yes. Runecraft teleporters work between worlds, so that will be the primary method to get in and out of Winmore for migration.
Our new transportation system within the new world will have two primary components, not counting your feet. For transportation between major metropolitan areas (cities and surrounding structures,) we will begin to make use of Phiwa’s DragonTravel Plugin, which (in combination with TriggerCommands) will allow us to set up stations to spawn, and ride Ender Dragons to distant predetermined stations, enjoying the scenery along the way. We are also using this excellent V10lift Elevator Mod, allowing mods to wire multi-floor elevators into buildings. WE WILL NOT INSTALL THESE WIDELY INTO PRIVATE STRUCTURES.
The second part of our new system will be the vanilla railway. With the help of a few people, we will engineer and construct a nice and efficient railway system within each major metropolitan area. Hyperfreak will be engineering the project, and BlazeDrag will handle masterminding the architecture of stations, though we expect many will wish to contribute or build their own rail stations in their own areas linking them into the nearest metropolitan area.
“Why are we switching systems?”
Two reasons. One is because walking became a chore, and that detracts from the charm of the game, in our opinion. The second reason is that we want to avoid ballooning several thousand squares out in every direction. While exploring is great, and building in fantastic areas is to be expected, people were so afraid of stepping on one another’s toes that they opted to move a great distance before constructing anything. We want people to more often see spots that already exist along railways and between dragon points, and build where they find that natural beauty in passing in the virgin space between and adjacent to current cities. This is in stark contrast to the old method of staring at the inside of three or four underground teleporter hubs for travel.
HOLY FLYING F*CK ON A F*CK SANDWICH, CAN I GET A DRAGON STATION ON MY ROOF?
No. The idea is that there will be some kind of vague planning to the placement of cities, allowing us to discern by distance whether to use rail or dragon. Dragons will be used only for significant distances.
I hope this has all done much to clear up questions about the direction the server will be heading in the near future. Questions can be directed to silvercrestlanding@gmail.com.
